Seasoning Guide

Your Ironster arrives pre-seasoned and ready to use. Here's how to maintain and build that seasoning over time.

    After each use

    Rinse with warm water while still warm. Use a stiff brush or chain mail scrubber — never soak. Dry immediately on the stove over low heat.

    Apply a thin oil coat

    While warm, rub a tiny amount of vegetable oil or ghee over the entire surface with a cloth. Remove any excess — thin layers build better than thick ones.

    Store dry

    Store in a dry place with the lid slightly ajar if stacking. Avoid storing wet or sealed — moisture is the only enemy of cast iron.

  4. 4
    Re-season in the oven (monthly)

    Apply a thin oil coat, place upside down in oven at 200°C for 1 hour. Let cool in the oven. This refreshes and deepens the seasoning.

Rust spot? Scrub it off with steel wool, wash, dry completely, and re-season. Cast iron recovers. It is not ruined.
